Lefty is a song about perception. How we visualize the world regardless of how dirty, cracked or fogged our view may be. ‘Please hold on to your worth so you’ll never forget your name’ to ‘you will smoke in your bed, hide away from the world’, represent the various states of mind one can feel while caught in the throes of mental illness. Lefty takes people through the visceral layers of darkness to light giving the listener the ability to either heal or empathize on the narrators journey.
lyrics
I see all the ships pass by eclipsed by the murdered sun,
Red spots and a damaged ring nick the veins of the unsettled ones,
Please hold like you’re driving to hell cause I know we’re going to start to run,
Scream allowed all the vicious words that we carved in the dying sun,
And we said, eyes closed, purse your lips to the Gods,
No longer will I write this way I was a lefty here all along, and she said, time wove, reason, lust and the Divine,
Gave away all my favourite songs had a bath and painted all my nails,
I get what you wanna do just trying to understand your ways, I hear when you get broke down you expect the full on brigade,
You look like a withered flower with the rusty pollen on your face,
Please hold on to your worth so you’ll never forget your name,
You will read in your room, you will smoke in your bed, hide away from the world, and he said no, I don’t want to be you, pull away from the view, cause you say it’s too easy, not to try

Sail Cassady came alive while reading ‘on the road’ by Jack Kerouac in 2012. The adventure, art and imagery held within the
parameters of a single book birthed the idea that the same concept could be experienced within a song or a band.
